Natalia T. German Shepherd Dog Senior Female for sale in San Juan Bautista, California

Natalia T.'s story
Natalia T. is a very friendly 12-year-old German Shepherd that arrived at the Moreno Valley shelter as a stray.    We don't know too much about her before arriving at the shelter but we do suspect that her recent past had not been so good.  Because Natalia is very people and dog-friendly we suspect that she must have been loved and well cared for during some period of her life.    On intake at the shelter Natalia had a severe flea infestation and had callouses on her elbows and other leg pressure points most likely from extended outdoor hard-surface living.   She also had a mammary mass and some arthritis or related joint issues that gives her difficulty when attempting to rise from a sitting or lying position.  The mammary mass has been successfully removed and thankfully the mass was benign so we are happy to report that Natalia is ready to start the process of finding a forever adoptive home!!!  Her rear end joint soreness is being treated with a mild daily NSAID medication which is paid for by TSGSR for the rest of her life.
Far too often a senior dog like Natalia will be put to sleep in the shelter because of overcrowded conditions and because her young and playful years are behind her.    The mission for Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) is to identify adoptable senior GSDs that may need some assistance so they can continue their lives in an adoptive home and show just how much love they have left to give.
TSGSR has rescued Natalia from the shelter and has committed to getting her the care she needs.    This care likely has a medical component to it but also includes finding her an adoptive or foster home when she is ready so that she can experience a loving home for her remaining years.  As mentioned below, TSGSR will pay for her medical expenses to assure her well being for the rest of her life.    Thanks to the Miracle GSD Network (another cooperative GSD advocacy group) Natalia's situation was brought to the attention of TSGSR along with some needed fundraising in time so she is no longer in immediate jeopardy.
Natalia T. Summary:
- Natalia is a Female, 12 yrs old, weighs 65lbs, current on shots, spayed, House-Trained
- Good with Adults, dogs, cat workable, and travel in the car
Natalia was observed at the shelter with other younger and large dogs and she displayed a friendly and tolerant behavior.    She was also introduced to a cat at the shelter and her response was to quickly move out of paw's reach of the cat.   This likely indicates that she has had prior experience with cats and feels that close contact with a cat is to be avoided.   Since Natalia does not want to chase or be aggressive with a cat she possibly could live in the same house with a cat.   We call this "cat workable".  Of course, the behavior of the specific cat will have a lot to do with the success of the two living together so it is important to test how Natalia does with the specific cat.

Comments from Natalia's Foster Family:
Natalia barks to alarm us sporadically (sorry Mailman!)... and she loves to greet us when we come home.  She is usually rolling around happily.
Natalia is left alone most of the day with other dogs 4x a week and has had NO issues.  She uses the dog door to go outside whenever she needs to.  Most of the time she sleeps on her bed in the living room.
Her walks are probably 10 minutes as she tires quickly.    She has some mobility issues but is just starting to get her medications consistently.
Natalia would enjoy a home with other dogs and a yard. She loves human interaction and always finds a place to lie down close to her favorite person.

We are still getting to know Natalia so we will be continuing to update her bio.
